The @DJLEGGS Celluloid Records Collection

This will speak for it self. I'm not even going to rant on this one largely. My Bad Syke I had to lol. Celluloid records was a great label back in the Turn of the 1970's and 80's that was known for putting out many classics and Now obscure joints Both Hip Hop/Electro as well as new wave. Most of Celluloid cuts were famously played at the NYC Club the Roxy and Hip hop DJ's who broke them there. Records by the Smurfs, Phase II, Bambaataa and Timezone, Fab 5 Freddy & Beside, Bernard Fowler, The Grandmixer D.S.T., The Rebels. Material did much of the production on these records for Celluloid. If they weren't Hip Hop Or Electro, they were post Punk, New Wave Orientated. Do You Remember Material? You may want to watch this wonderful Doc On you tube about Celluloid Records. 

I don't want to speak about things I don't have much knowledge about on my own. This Doc will do the trick, so when you have a clear 20 minutes, watch the Doc please. Bill Laswell a very talented early Hip Hop, Jazz & Pop bassist/producer and The Grandmixer D.S.T himself speak extensively about the French derived Celluloid History. In The Meanwhile Download My Personal Collection Of Celluloid Hip Hop & New Wave Classics (Note: I have not uploaded every record in my collection but many of them) I cant give ya'll everything as I have many of the extended versions, 12" and 7" Versions. But I am sharing a great wealth of these. I hand picked these for you guys. But please Do your own digging as well. Find the other cuts that you would find on the original 12"s or 7's. The Timezone "Wild style" Version here is the Original Rap version with Artists Motivator and Beside as well as Bam of course Rapping. But Ive included the other known Dub version as well. The Phase II Joint here you will notice, I have included the regular (No French rap) and then the Original Mix. Which It was the very first version I ever heard on cassette, back then before I bought the Vinyl record eventually. And I forgot all about it, even when Downloading the main version a few years ago. The French mix slipped my mind. I just found it and Caught a little case of Dejavu. I said Man How did I forget this version. This is what happens when we sometimes lose sight of our Vinyl roots momentarily due to all this internet stuff today. We might forget about the alternate versions supplied on the good Ole' twelve records, when they become digitally obscure online. Unless you still have the 12" and refer back to them, or just purely remember those versions, you tend to forget them sometimes. So I am so very Blessed and pleased to have found the original mix Version of Phase II's "The Roxy" with French MC "Beside" Rapping, as it is my personal favorite version. I also Have the 7 Version which is obviously edited shorter. If you like Email me for that. The Same Beat was used For production in 2 of the releases. As you may of noticed long ago. Material shared the same production for two completely different song releases, with the Likes of the Smurfs for "Do the smurf for what its worth" and the Rebels "You can make it". They used to do this often back in the day for various reasons. Most likely to see which version would catch on. I am also sharing the The A & B Sides of Fab 5 Freddy's " Change the beat". One has the french rap the other does not, its important to have both. Ill explain later. Of course you get the D.S.T.'s Mega Mix. I've included the short version and the longer version with the Intro and the spliced together outro's of other popular releases. As you download my collection, you will hear many of the actual regular songs D.S.T Used to splice together the Megamix for Celluloid that may of not been familiar with previously if you do not have history with owning Celluloid classics. Also Not to mention back to Change the beat. That extremely famous "THIS STUFF IS REALLY FRESHHH" outro Included on the Change The Beat B-Side Version made famous by a vocorder voice effect at the very end of the record by a Guy Named Roger for Celluloid at the time. All You DJ's should know that Famous Sample used for scratching your intros and in DJ Battles" and if you didnt know where it came from, now you do. It is one of the most used segments for 30 years now by DJ's all over the world. Check the end of the B-side version. Anyway make sure to dig in and download every single track Y'all.

Hey whats Up Gang Ya Favorite, Classic Cut Man back On The scene @DJLEGGS Add me on twitter. Its been a while, but you know I always make it a point to show up at just the right time. I have with me this time in this edition of "Old school Archives" Some Really rare and sought after Electro Cuts from back in the days. This time centering on some interesting Europe stuff (Minus The Gifted 4 Track). Now these tracks, some of which I know many of Ya'll have been looking for, because I myself have been looking for these. And Great Music heads think alike. Keep in mind the "Praxis" records, these were joints I remember on a few old cassette Hip Hop tapes and never knew who the hell these songs were. It wasnt until the last few years Ive been able to come across this stuff by mistake. So To great Avail, I've been able to do some cloud snooping and have finally find these cuts in their Mp3 entirety..So here they are as promised I love to share. The following will blow your transistors. I dont know man, I think this is going to be the blast to blast your ass way back in the past. I think you all will enjoy the Ultra-Rareness (If that is even a word) of this edition to Old school Archives. I may even have the greatest blog on the planet for Rare Old school Hip Hop on the low. Now fellow DJ's and music lovers. Here is just a few sounds of what greatness awaits you. I've listed two sneak-peakers here. Get a load of these, and Be Electrified by the True Flava Of Real Rare Electro
This Track By "Automation" I Know many of you may remember a UK Group by the name Automation, who churned out a few Euro-Electro Jams back in the mid 80's. And a big number of you do not, because they were an obscure group and unless you was up on your "Import game" You probably overlooked these groups Like Praxis, Or Willesden Dodgers or Paul Hardcastle.. We All Know Kraftwerk or Art Of Noise, But these other guys don't quite get the credit they deserve either. Anyway there was this Famous Breakdance Jam In UK In 1985, when Hip Hop exploded over In Europe. The London "Hippodrome" featured this Big Rappin & Breakin event Called Electro-rock In 1985 Hosted By DJ Mike Allen of Capital Radio. Electro-rock was released as a show on VHS and featured many of the (at the time) Well Known rap groups, And breakin crews out there in England. I'm not sure if it aired on Europe TV as well as just being a straight to VHS thing. It probably may have. Anyhow one of the songs on the soundtrack was by the group Automation called Electro-Rock as an Intro track (By UK's Automation) when It came on and as an outro song when the credits scrolled. featuring Afrika Bambaataa and the family (Jazzy Joyce, Lisa Lee, Lil Ikey C Etc) in their dressing room joking about the show. I don't think a 12" Vinyl was pressed for it but here is that track, it was remixed by A DJ. which is damn near close enough to the actual track which plays intro/outro to the showcase filmed. The DJ Who reconstructed this record and put it on line takes some of the famous Audio as you will hear for the Intro (UK Rappers rapping briefly, commentary from the Host Of the Jam and excerpts by Bam and the crew at the end). I think Its gotta be pretty much the same track if it were released on vinyl (Maybe minus some of the added voice overs), a nice reconstruction if you will since we can't seem to get this on Vinyl or cassette. But a really good job was done reconstructing the song never the less and it passed for being something my music collection could use and needed. With some screwing around as I do online. I found it finally and here it is. This jam featured many London based Hip Hop crews, break dancers as well as Our US Superstars who were invited out to perform and compete. Afrika Bamaataa, and family, Loose Bruce & Street Elite and more. I have been fortunate enough to have been able to extract this entire video off line in full Great MPeg TV quality with a DVD Menu added and burn it to a DVD, Through my secret diabolical efforts "Hee hee". Ultimately adding it to my extensive collection of classic footage. But If you want to view the entire event. Another Track I love is this 116 (I) BPM By Jive Rythym Trax. Now I know most of you should have the 122 BPM's which is the most common one that most people have heard, But as many of you again, are well aware they actually did a whole two or three compilation Vinyl with different songs centering whatever BPM's back in 1982-86. "Jive Rythym Trax" in 82 & then "More Jive Rythym Trax" & "Scratch Trax"in 83. I never knew there existed so many different BPM Songs by The Willesden Dodgers. Now this particular one in this blast, I've always wondered who or what it was before. I didn't even know it was a Jive Rythym Track, whatever it was I knew it was some rare, rare electro cut perhaps from over sees. I was right. I had this Afrika Islam Zulu beats radio show back in the day, I used to listen to recorded on Cassette and I heard it and always wanted this song. I just recently found out who it was by and what the song was via You tube. Most of the time I find these gems by accident and I found this purely by accident downloading all the other BPM Versions, I was like "Ohh Ok this is that song WOW" the best way To find stuff is by digging, inspecting, snooping.
